Supremacy and Racism
August 17, 2020
On August 4, 2020 Jordan Hollingsworth drove a pickup truck through barricades set up to protect protesters on North Lombard in Portland, Oregon; drove faster through the crowd when those protestors tried to stop him; and then ran over and dragged a motorcycle, laid down in front of his truck in an attempt to stop him, for several blocks. He narrowly missed hitting a number of people with his vehicle (because of their dexterity not because of any attempt on his part to avoid killing someone).
Then he pulled out and brandished a handgun while telling protesters they were stupid and how "I love black people".
MacSmiff posted Hollingsworth's license plate on Twitter and I noted that the cops wouldn't arrest this dangerous driver because they don't arrest racist white supremacists -- they are racist white supremacists. Cops only arrest reporters, legal observers, and protesters who aren't doing anything illegal.
The next morning, the cops released a statement listing all the protesters (and at least one reporter) they did arrest (and the bogus charges against them). The statement also mentioned:
Portland cops won't arrest Jordan Hollingsworth because they routinely support white nationalists who attack Black Lives Matter protesters and refuse to arrest them even when multiple witnesses report beatings, stabbings, and gunshots.
Apparently Hollingsworth, not content to get away with not being arrested for attempted assault (or even murder), has now decided to take the right-wing path of demanding compensation for the damage he did to his own truck. Allegedly his mommy, Dalia Kingsley, created a fundraiser on GoFundMe attempting to coerce his fellow racists into paying for the damages. (I'm guessing the insurance company balked at paying for damage he inflicted himself.)
This is a common right-wing grift: break the law (whether by opening in defiance of a pandemic-ordered shut down; discriminating against people who are BIPOC, LGBTQ, or Muslim by refusing to serve them as customers; or running people down in the street) and then go online to beg fellow right wingers to pay the cost of breaking laws.
The fraudulent demand for money on GoFundMe follows the standard right-wing narrative, claiming poor Hollingsworth was "stopped by rioters who had the street blocked off." It doesn't mention that the street was blocked off because the protesters were trying to protect themselves from drivers who have used their vehicles as weapons to run them down in the past.
At any point he could have backed away and gone around the protest on side streets. Instead, he chose to speed forward through a crowded, blocked off, street, at the risk of doing serious harm to protesters.
The fake article on the Nationalist Review linked to in the GoFundMe campaign was written by someone who wasn't there but who regularly steals video from independent journalists and edits it to make the protesters look bad.
BTW, you can report this fraudulent fundraiser (which was still accepting donations as of this posting) at GoFundMe. The URL to report is https://www.gofundme.com/f/rioters-destroyed-my-son039s-truck-help

"The driver involved with dragging a motorcycle through the crowd was interviewed and released without charges."
Notice how this statement ignores the fact that the driver endangered a number of lives. It doesn't even admit he was the driver "dragging a motorcycle through the crowd", he was just "involved" in that crime.Portland cops won't arrest Jordan Hollingsworth because they routinely support white nationalists who attack Black Lives Matter protesters and refuse to arrest them even when multiple witnesses report beatings, stabbings, and gunshots.

"The situation quickly escalated"
Again, note the passive wording typically used when trying to avoid responsibility for inciting an incident. That's because Hollingsworth escalated the situation. Instead of driving approximately three blocks out of his way to get to his home, he decided to ram his truck through a street full of protesters."They even went as far as putting a motorcycle in front of his truck to try and trap him."
The motorcycle wasn't put "in front of his truck to try and trap him". It was laid down, the owner sacrificing his own vehicle, to try and stop Hollingsworth from injuring, and possibly killing, protesters. Any "attacks" he claims were made against him were in reality just attempts to stop him from hurting people. At any point he could have backed away and gone around the protest on side streets. Instead, he chose to speed forward through a crowded, blocked off, street, at the risk of doing serious harm to protesters.
