The aptly titled Dommemoir by I.G. Frederick delivers on so many levels that it defies categorization. One has to begin with the eroticism of it all, but it quickly sucks you in and envelopes you in the bondage of its spell, which is of course the best eroticism of all. Unlike so many works of erotica, Dommemoir is a character study that breathes complex and compelling life into its hero, the devastating Lady Geneviéve and the fortunate submissives who worship at her feet.

One rarely reads such a book unless one is already immersed in the culture and context of the scene, which makes this reading experience even more intense with possibilities. But even if you're not there yet, you will be after Dommemoir has infected your psyche, placing you in the delicious bondage of its dark and compelling landscape of a very different flavor of love. But love, nonetheless.

Dommemoir was a true eye opener. It caused me to stop and consider the other side of the coin through the eyes of the opposite sex. Men allowing women to be the dominant force in the relationship harbors such taboos in today's world. The author touched on how society views men who enjoy allowing their significant others to be in control and be subservient to another. I stopped and pondered many views that I previously thought to be un-savorable, and reconsidered them with a more open, educated mind.

Slave Nicholas and Lady Geneviéve's lives are not really that different of what we might call a normal life. After reading this book I have a better understanding of how they live and have a better understanding of their lifestyle. ... I recommend this book if you have no idea what a FemDom lifestyle is and would want to see it through their eyes.

      Geneviéve has lived in a vanilla marriage for many years, but while she's exceptionally well catered for financially, what she really needs is a man to serve her, a man who she can own body and soul, and who will do the household chores she hates.       Dommemoir begins with the narrator, Lady Geneviève, introducing herself and her passion for sexual sadism. Lady Geneviève is a personable storyteller, honest about her passions and forthright in her attitudes and opinions towards BDSM. She frankly admits to preconceived limitations and reservations about some aspects of BDSM. But she’s honest enough to concede that the allure of sexual sadism has always had a command over her libido. As Lady Geneviève explains at the conclusion of the first chapter:
      “There is a vast disparity between the number of submissive men in the world and the women available to dominate them. I hope this memoir will inspire other women to seek the path that will lead them to receive the veneration they deserve. If the idea of a slave worshiping at your feet doesn’t appeal to you, please note that until recently I never knew that I needed it. I even found the idea of a man kissing my feet slightly repulsive.       Not that Dommemoir is written solely from Lady Geneviève’s perspective. The second chapter introduces slave nicholas who narrates his own place within the story that unfolds. Just as Lady Geneviève is a natural sadist, nicholas is a natural masochist. It’s apparent from the start that these two are supposed to be together but, because of societal constraints, the path of this love story is fraught with hurdles that need to be overcome. It’s also apparent, as Lady Geneviève dominates the narrative, that the story is more strongly focused on her voyage of discovery. Nevertheless, slave nicholas’s contribution provides an exciting and important background to Lady Geneviève’s growing immersion in the world of all things BDSM.
