Two years ago a Montana District judge's outrageous victim-blaming comments defending his commuting of a pedophile rapist's sentence angered me. I'm still angry. The child killed herself because of what her 54-year-old teacher did to her.
The judge claimed the 14-year-old rape victim looked "older than her chronological age" and was "as much in control of the situation" as the man forty years her senior.
The judge's revolting and all-too-common attitude hit a nerve. When I was a child, I looked and acted older than my chronological age and I almost became a rape victim. I wrote about my ordeal then for Truthout's SpeakOut.
Today that essay -- with an update -- appears on PDXX Collective, literary feminism for the working writer.
Unfortunately, even though the rapist has been resentenced to 10 years in prison and the judge was reprimanded, this essay is still all too relevant.

I often wonder how many marriages end because spouses are too constrained by society's restrictions to communicate honestly about their sexual needs. When I played the online dating game, I sometimes would see profiles that reminded me of my ex-husband. As the shadow of a repressive piety movement spreads across the system's free worlds, the Lady Cassandra and her slaves must flee home. When I originally wrote Searching, a twist on the story of two dominants searching for a slave they can share, I thought it was a one-time visit with the characters.
But, when I started putting together stories for Who Tops Who, Theresa insisted on explaining how she, a FemDom who had never been in a vanilla relationship, ended up married to a dominant male.
